Zone 11 Election Notice

ELECTION NOTICE

Due to Reen Doser’s election to the office of State Secretary, we will hold an election for a new Zone 11 Director. Pursuant to our bylaws, we will hold an election to fill the vacancy and follow the process outlined in the PSE state bylaws, Article X, Section D, #3:

3. Vacancies in the office of zone director shall be filled only for the remainder of the term in which the vacancy occurs. Upon receipt of notification of vacancy, the president shall direct that a zone council meeting be held and that the council elect a successor for the remainder of the vacant term. The president shall give a minimum of ten (10) calendar days’ notice of the council meeting by telephone and first class mail, same-day postmark to each member of the council. The council meeting must be held within thirty (30) calendar days of the receipt of the notification by the president of the zone director vacancy. Election of the successor must be by majority vote of the council members present and voting. In the event that more than two candidates run for the office, the candidate with the lowest vote total will be dropped from the ballot after each round of voting until one candidate receives a majority of the votes cast.

Please inform your members of the opening in the office of zone director and encourage them to accept a nomination or declare for the position. The remaining term of office is until August 31, 2011. A regular election will take place at our next convention.

The election will be held on:

September 13, 2010 6:30 p.m.
Arlington School District Transportation Department
19124 63rd Ave NE, Arlington WA 98223

Note: Please enter through the big parking lot where the buses are located; do not park in front as the doors are locked.

President Judi Owens will conduct the election and each interested candidate will be allowed up to three minutes to address the council and then the vote will be held. Chapter presidents who are not able to attend the meeting should designate someone to represent their chapter. Designees should be provided with a written statement so that the substitution can be verified.
