Survey results: Advertising on school buses
Lawmakers in Olympia are considering legislation that would allow advertising to be placed on the sides of school buses, similar to those ads currently placed on transit buses. Senate Bill 6466 and House Bill 3133 would allow school districts to place advertising and educational materials on and in school buses if the advertising or educational materials are approved by the school board. The measure would generate between $175,000-525,000 in new revenue per year statewide.

Comments:
sherisolwold: Advertising does not belong on the side of the School Bus. The last thing we need to add to the list of drivers is reading the side of a school bus. Keep the advertising off the school bus.
mardee06: As long as there are guidelines on what type of advertising will be allowed on buses, I feel it this is a positive, creative way to raise funds for education.
syrin777: I don't want the kids looking at ads every day wishing they could have the Big Mac in the ad or new pair of Jeans.
dharris: I'm not crazy about the idea, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
mayk: It seems absurd that we would even need to consider this type of option in order to fund education in the first place.
morgant: There aren't problems with advertising on city busses so I don't see how it could affect students. Any way to help fund education we can find without more taxes should be looked into.
cleanforewe: We are facing such serious budget cuts and uncertainty. If the advertising is appropriate and will help with saving jobs and helping with the revenue to keep our schools up and running I would not have a problem with it.
